Emergency Response

The SMS (Shapla Mohila Sangstha)  operates emergency response since 1998 with other issues like women’s development, HIV and AIDS prevention, water and sanitation and human rights etc.

SMS conducted emergency medical care among the flood affected people at Faridpur  funded by OXFAM Bangladesh and Gono Sastha Kendra in flood 1998. SMS also distributed food items among 3000 families funded from Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA)-Bangladesh on flood 1998. In 1999 SMS had conducted a relief program (Food item) among 2000 families with support from ADRA, Bangladesh. SMS also distributed food items for 8000 families in flood 2004 assisted from ADRA Bangladesh and WFP and 500 families from Action Aid Bangladesh and formed a Medical Team to provide treatment in same year. SMS also constructed 300 low-cost housing funded from EU through Action Aid Bangladesh. SMS worked on tube well reaping job among flood affected people.

SMS also responded to SIDOR, Ayla cyclone in Bangladesh occoured in 2007 and 2008 respectively from financial support from MISEREOR, Germany and Manosher Jonno Foundation (DFID) through HIV/AIDS and STD Alliance Bangladesh (HASAB) in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 respectively.
